A climb to the San Giovanni Fortress, which towers high above the town, rewards visitors with a breathtaking panorama of the entire Bay of Kotor and the surrounding mountains.

Kotor is also known for its impressive churches and cathedrals, including the Cathedral of St Tryphon, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture from the 12th century. The Maritime Museum of Montenegro, housed in a magnificent Baroque palace, tells the maritime history of the region and is a must see for any visitor.

In addition to its historical sights, Kotor has a vibrant cultural scene with numerous festivals and events throughout the year. Of particular note is the traditional Kotor Carnival, which delights locals and tourists alike with its colourful parades and exuberant celebrations.
